UCO OUTDOOR ADVENTURE RECREATION CENTER
UCO opened the Outdoor Adventure Recreation Center overlooking Lake Arcadia in 2009, inviting students and community alike to take advantage of the area's natural resources and activities. The 5,600 square foot facility echoes UCO's Edmond campus with a red brick facade, cast stone arch and bands, clerestory roof with cupolas, and split faced concrete block. Interior space includes boat storage, a multi-media classroom/community room, marble detailed entry, snack area, and office.
The Center features an "outdoor classroom" for water and wildlife conservation, and is the hub for a myriad of safety and educational classes through UCO, the City of Edmond, the State Wildlife Commission, Lake Patrol, and Highway Patrol. It will house recreational equipment for rowing, canoeing, kayaking, archery, and mountain biking as well as gear for Edmond Police search and rescue. UCO, designated as an official U.S. Olympics and Paralympics training site, will use the OAR Center to support Team USA and UCO athletes.
Located just east of I-35 off of Second Street in Lake Arcadia's Edmond Park, the OAR Center is free to UCO students and Wellness Center members and accessible to the public for a fee.
