COVELL ROAD

THE CITY OF EDMOND / ODOT

Covell Road Covell Road / Boulevard Intersection
Covell Road

Triad and The City of Edmond have worked for more than a decade on design components of the Covell Corridor, identified by Edmond and Oklahoma County as the most logical east-west route linking US Interstate 35 to Oklahoma State Highway 74. Three phases of the corridor have been awarded to Triad Design.

The first new construction segment of Phase III, the most recent contract to be awarded to Triad, begins east of Edmond’s Santa Fe Avenue continuing east past Mitch Park to Thomas Avenue, tying into Covell’s initial phases and extending 3 miles to I-35. Triad will develop plans meeting Edmond and ODOT requirements for a 4-lane curb and gutter roadway with raised median and multi-use paths on both sides of Covell Road designed to minimally impact existing structures.

The next project segment will be the reconstruction of Kelly Avenue, Thomas Avenue, Bryant Avenue, Coltrane Avenue and Sooner Road to 4-lane, curb and gutter streets with turn-lanes and signalized intersections.

Construction of Triad’s design for Covell Phase I, Boulevard / Broadway widening and realignment is near completion and Phase II, the Broadway / Covell intersection is complete. Construction is to begin on the Burlington Northern / Santa Fe Railroad Underpass in 2008.
