OKLAHOMA CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE HEALTH PROFESSIONS CENTER
Oklahoma City Community College's $7,000,000 Health Professions Center was opened in time
for the 2008 fall semester. A showpiece of OCCC's 2003 "Vision of the Future", the
two story, 42,879 sq. ft. expansion of the Division of Health Professions and Mini-Hospital
Building relocates into one complex OCCC's health care programs formerly spread
throughout the campus. It houses Oklahoma's only nationally accredited paramedic
program and largest single site nursing program.
Triad designed the Center to reflect the real health care workplace with collaboration
between medical disciplines. It includes 14 new classrooms and labs, student clinical
practice space and a Human Patient Simulator lab. Registered Nursing, Occupational
Therapy, Physical Therapy and Emergency Medical Sciences now have space for equipment,
mannequins and skills practice with new labs adjacent to the classrooms. The EMS
area contains a fully equipped ambulance used for student training.
Included in the Geriatric Care and Home Health Care division is a new Activities
of Daily Living space. This coupled with one of two Human Patient Simulators allows
students to simulate care in home and hospital environments. Two lecture style classrooms
on the upper floor are adaptable to accommodate large groups of students or continuing
education seminars.
The versatile facility triples the space for Health Professions programs as they
partner with regional healthcare providers to meet the growing need for a highly
trained allied health care workforce.
